Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF COSMETIC DENTISTRY?

Cosmetic dentistry corrects physical abnormalities or irregularities in your teeth, but its impact goes much deeper. It’s no use pretending that sometimes we are self-conscious about the way we look. Every smile is beautiful in its own way, but that doesn’t stop us from feeling poorly about it. Cosmetic dentistry can help a patient by ensuring that they are confident in their smile and the image they are presenting to the world. Additionally, cosmetic dentistry will help prevent issues with a patient’s teeth in the future, and strengthens teeth that are already there.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COSMETIC DENTISTRY?

There are several different types of cosmetic dentistry, but the five most common are: composite bonding, dental implants, whitening, inlays and onlays, and veneers.

Composite bonding is one of the simplest types of cosmetic dentistry. When the damaged portions of a tooth are removed, a synthetic bond is affixed to the already existing tooth. It is shaped and colored to match the existing tooth—you’d never even know there was a synthetic portion!

Dental implants are permanent tooth replacements. They are not like dentures, which are removed every night.

Tooth whitening is another form of cosmetic dentistry! This isn’t a surgery—just take your smile and make it brighter.

DO AND DON'TS AFTER COSMETIC DENTISTRY?

Each cosmetic dentistry procedure is different, but after all cosmetic dentistry procedures, one should:

  • Clean your teeth gently and carefully.
  • Eat soft and light-colored foods.

Don’t:

  • Use abrasive home remedies
  • Smoke cigarettes. Especially after a tooth whitening, smoking cigarettes can reverse the process very quickly.
